“Frugality is one of the most beautiful and joyful words in the English language, and yet one that we are culturally cut off from understanding and enjoying. The consumption society has made us feel that happiness lies in having things, and has failed to teach us the happiness of not having things.” (Elise Boulding)
Sometimes we forgot that we don’t need things to be happy or feeling good. This thought came up on my mind after reading an article about then activities to do that don’t involve spending money…and a suddenly realized that a lot of m favorites blog or website are about frugal lifestyle or simpler living like my blog… I wasn’t born in a rich family and since I was a child a was educated to respect the value of things instead of money’s value… Today I know that was an important lesson.
Few months ago a discovered Exploring Alternatives an exciting blog edit by Danielle and Matt, two guys who decide to living in a van and explore new ways to live with less… They constantly inspire a lot of people to make different choice and they’re telling you the truth that sometimes it’s difficult to live in a van, that sometimes things are difficult and that it’s important to find a community to share the fear of being different… Thank you guys!!
Another interesting article it’s from Zen Habits: Living Lightly with the One-Bag Lifestyle: you know every time you pack for a trip it’s a mess… I usually made a travel list about important things to have wit me and I use that list every time I travel..but I didn’t think to use this method to live day by day… Now I’m thinking it’s a very interesting idea..and I want to try to reduce my wardrobe and choose only important and essential clothes for office and free time. Actually I don’t have a lot of free time..I’m preparing an important law exam and a running race…and also I work five day a week and I stay until 8 pm… it’s no easy but I’m trying do to my best and I think that change habits or just improve a little things every day it’s good..Because changes give you the chances to observe you life in a different prospective and find new ways to discover what you’re capable of!
Another experiment that I would try it’s living using less plastic. That’s because I saw a lot of documentary about the plastic island and one in particular catch my attention Plastic Paradise Movie: if I was worried about plastic bottle BPA free…now I’m really worried about plastic things in general…We need to be proactive on this.. I’d like to recommend yo this article about climate changes and pollution It’s the End of the World . . . Sort Of
